The Strength of Savannah, Georgia Real Estate
 by: Cody Tate

Life in Savannah, GA. is fast and happening, but it's old Southern tradition guarantees that it shall continue to maintain its serenity. Savannah, this modest city that merrily welcomes a rest of the world, derives its name from the Native American word for "grassy plain". Savannah has come a very long way from its primal existence as the quiet plain.

Living up to the accurate reputation of being "hostess city of the South", Savannah, Georgia treats both locals and travellers to fascinating squares, blooming garden paths, culture, a diverse variety of entertainment, and delectable food. Savannah embodies the southern belle: fascinating, benevolent, spirited and impressive.

The twenty-four squares which are cleverly arranged here and there in the historical metropolitan area represent the heart of downtown. General James Ogelthorpe created the city plan for Savannah. He did an excellent job, and his creation remains intact today. The squares form not only the literal city center, but also form the historic and cultural heart of the city. Savannah's activities and life spread from her squares. Each unique square tells a tale of local and world history, having lived through both the Revolutionary and Civil Wars.

Art and culture can be witnessed on every single corner of Savannah's fun-filled streets, every season of the year. Savannah's Music Festival in March and the Jazz Festival in September fill each air with cool melodies. African Americans, Greeks, Irish, Scots and Asians, among others, share their customs with festivals and holidays spread throughout different times of the year. Additionally, students of the Savannah College of Art and Design enamour the visitors by creatively decorating the sidewalks during the annual Sidewalk Art Festival. Savannah's indoor cultural scene is booming with over eighty art galleries, museums, and theaters.

The outskirts of the city of Savannah offer the safety of a small town for households who would prefer quietness and space, while the city center offers a metropolitan feel with three universities , whose large international student body gives Savannah a cosmopolitan and trendy edge, great shopping, and a nightlife that seems to start and bubble out from CityMarket.

Those fortunate people who reside in Savannah can be seen spending their leisure time the way many people spend vacation time -- year round moderate temperatures allow for for a tremendous variety of outdoor activities, nearby beaches, golf, and a variety of bars. . Even the public transport system is stress-free. The Chatham Area Transit (CAT) operates an efficient system of buses, trolleys, and a ferry for those crossing the Savannah River.

It's no surprise that Savannah is consistently listed as one of The United States ten most beautiful cities. Savannah's appeal extends to a large variety of tastes. These diverse interests and lifestyles coexist in a pleasant way, which helps to contribute to Savannah's growth. Artists add its culture, small businesses encourage tourists and grow as a result of them, and big industry drives the economy in the right direction. Therefore, this petite city, with her large city way of thinking, knows how to attract the world's attention without breaking a sweat.
